Professed friars together with the Suprema of Iglesia Mistica Filipina in Mt. Banahaw. Their so-called organization has a mixed culture of Filipino Spirituality and some Catholic teachings. In front of their Church they have the subscription of the 10 Commandments and the Mi Ultimo Adios of Dr. Jose Rizal. |
A 30 minute drive from the Iglesia Rosa Mystica, another separate organization was founded in the name "Samahan ng tatlong Persona solo Dios". One of their beliefs is that Christ ame in the Philippines and left a mark of his left foot in a stone. The stone is laid on the river. Amazingly, according to the people we've asked, the water that flows from where the foot is laid, tastes like soda. |
We've walked, jumped, climbed, and wet our pants along the river for more than 30 minutes in order to reach the College of Spirituality. It's a place where students who wanted to become priest or teachers of their spirituality take spiritual studies. It's not like a building structure but a sacred place located in the middle of Mt. Banahaw. |
When we arrived their, we only saw Catholic images. Indeed the place calls some of our brothers to pray because of its sacredness. According to our guide, during holy week a lot of people do a pilgrimage on this place. They stay and camp as long as they want. Mt. Banahaw is considered as a sacred mountain for the people living their. And, it's only a proof that Filipinos still have the culture of being animistic. All they have was a mixed cultural spirituality and it includes catholic spirituality. |
A group picture was then taken to remember this wonderful experience of Filipino Spirituality in Mt. Banahaw.
Fray Tony needs to fold his pants so that he might not wet his clothes. We need also to bend because the cave is too narrow. It's not a natural cave but man-made.
Fray Aimark (wearing white shirt and long pants) tries to smile naturally while holding tight on the roots in order not to fall on the water below. While others are posing candidly for the picture.
